Jetting to the desert with my turban

As part of my weekly series "Editorial Escapes" I bring you once again to the desert but this time more eccentric but with a touch of refinement.  I was perusing one of my favorite magazines "Italian Vogue" July 2001 edition with this editorial that had me lusting to take the plane and go to the Sahara desert.  Steven Meisel shot Czech model Karolina Kurkova and Brazilian beauty Caroline Ribeiro in an editorial called "New Fantasy." It also has my favorite team of stylist behind it- (Stylist, Lori Goldstein), (Hair, Orlando Pita), (Makeup-Pat McGrath).    So what comes to mind when you see this editorial?   To me it had Veruschka von Lehndorff written all over it with a little hint of Talitha Getty which are both inspiring to look at for their sense of style.  I love the opulent and cutting edge details of this editorial along with the baked skin on the models.

So what would I bring if I was going on this escape?

-Stripe Silk Fabrics and Bold Color silks to turn into turbans- check

- Oversized statement jewelry-check

-Nars laguna body Bronzer-check

-Capes and Caftans-check

-These models didn't wear any sandals(goodness, how did they do it?- sorry,  I will have to bring one of my Zanotti sandals to the desert as I will want to come back with my soles.

So if you were packing to the desert, what would you bring?
