The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine- The Fountain
Located next to the
Cathedral of Saint John the Divine
we are welcomed by The Peace Fountain which is an sculpture that depicts the struggle
of good and evil. It was sculpted in 1985 by Greg Wyatt and it features the battle between the Archangel Michael and Satan. If you look closely you can see the sun, the moon and other animals surrounding the sculpture.
Surrounding the garden and fountain, there are many plaques which are designed to go with the style of the fountain. These plaques depict various philosophers, thinkers and artists, most accompanied by a quote by the individual depicted.
Unfortunately, I did not see any of the peacocks that people rave to see all the time. I guess I will have to pay another visit. Stay tuned for part 3 of the cathedral as I take you inside and show you the beautiful details.
