Dancing with Designer Juan Carlos Obando

Juan Carlos Obando

is one of the New York Kids on the block with a niche in evening and cocktail, he has been slowly paving his own wave in the NY fashion scene. As a Latin American woman, and Obando hailing from Colombia, it's without a doubt that his designs which focus on showing off an hourglass and contoured shape are appealing to me. His craftsman's approach to texture and color is out of this world even though his last collection was very subtle and mainly done in pastels. I am so in love with the ruffles, the cut and the color of this dress from his Fall 2011 collection. BTW, I have a big color crush on Seafoam!

Don't you love the color?

I am pretty sure you guys have all seen the last issue of

House Beautiful

with an apartment

Miles Redd

(another of my favorite Interior Designers) decorated.  I couldn't help but feature it on this post as it had the most gorgeous seafoam silk curtain that reminded me of Obando's dress above! I love how Mr.Redd always juxtaposes colors and makes them new again..so in love with the rooms above!

More of my favorite looks from Obando's last collection!

Here is yours truly dancing the night away at Barneys NY with Juan Carlos! It was so much fun dancing Salsa with him as we spoke about a ton design and business stuff. I told him Congratulation for his nomination for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and gave him tons of compliments for changing careers from Advertising to becoming a fashion designer. Plus I am one of his fans and he makes me proud being Latina!

The man could dance, I guess I am going to have to take more Salsa classes to freshen up my skills.

Have a wonderful Wednesday my dearest readers.

xoxo,

Maurenice
